Andros is “discovered” by Express in a recent feature of the British newspaper, urging its millions of readers to prefer the “secret” paradise of the Greeks over destinations crowded with tourists, such as Corfu and Crete.

As it is characteristically mentioned in the tribute, “British people often overlook a beautiful Greek island, but tourists from nearby Athens flock to it in droves”.

According to the British newspaper, “Andros in the Cyclades is a dream destination two hours from Attica with peaceful natural beauty and magnificent neoclassical mansions”.

“Explorers can enjoy the rich local fauna, including olive trees, for an authentic Greek experience with marked trails criss-crossing the island.

Among the other historical treasures, the monasteries of Zoodochos Pigis in Batsi and Panagia Tromarchion in Korthi are worth admiring with an abundance of relics and manuscripts. The 11th-century castle of Faneromeni, the island’s largest medieval fortress town, is also worth a visit. In addition, the famous Museum of Modern Art, which houses unique collections of sculptures and paintings, “steals” the impressions. The Archaeological Museums in Chora and Paleopolis also offer a fascinating glimpse into the island’s eventful history,” the Express writes.
