José de Abreu denies bad breath: ‘I’m going to the best dentist in Rio de Janeiro’

José de Abreu, 78, still hasn’t forgiven Maria Zilda Bethlem and Murilo Rosa for a conversation the duo had during a live broadcast four years ago, which recently went viral on social media. The actress told her colleague that Abreu had “bad breath” and that she suffered during the filming of the soap opera “Bebê a Bordo” (1988). Rosa reportedly laughed at the episode. “It was something that made me very upset, very bad,” recalled the actor.

The actor who plays Santiago Assunção in “Um Lugar ao Sol” (2021) denied having bad breath. “That’s not true. I’ve been going to the best dentist in Rio de Janeiro for 10 years, a wonderful dentist, who everyone at Globo went to. No girlfriend has ever complained about it,” he said in an interview with Globo.

In June, José de Abreu stated that he would file a lawsuit against Murilo Rosa and Maria Zilda for unduly exploiting and ridiculing a false medical problem. At the time, the actor said that he would ask for R$1 million from each for psychological, financial and moral damages: “Let the courts decide.”

The actor, who will revive the show “Saltimbancos” and star in the play “A Baleia” later this year, learned that Murilo Rosa has sued him and is waiting to be subpoenaed. “My lawyer is waiting to see how we will act. If he did not support (the lines about him in the live)he laughed along and took part in the fun in my face. That’s really crazy,” he commented.

Abreu also criticized Maria Zilda: “We had a beautiful romance, and I was very close to her. Until recently, I used to go to her house. I didn’t understand at all why she did a live broadcast to make fun of me.”
