Celebrities took to social media to report the shock they experienced during the early hours of the morning in Portugal, when there was an earthquake. A 5.4 magnitude tremor struck the sea off the coast of Setúbal, Portugal, at a depth of ten kilometers, according to the United States Geological Survey.

Among them is actress Luana Piovani, who lives in the country. “Today the earth shook here in Portugal. I woke up in the middle of the night and thought about it, but then went back to sleep. Now this morning, all anyone is talking about is it and it seems like it was a really strong earthquake,” she said.

According to Piovani, it wasn’t the first time he had experienced something similar. “I had felt it when I lived in Japan, but I had never felt it again. It’s a really crazy feeling because you feel like something is happening, but it takes a while to understand.”

Actress Letícia Spiller, who is in Portugal for work, also posted about the earthquake on her social media.

Wife of former goalkeeper Julio César, Susana Werner was another celebrity to report the tremor, although she said she did not feel it. “A magnitude 5.4 earthquake on the Richter scale hits Portugal. It is the largest earthquake since 1969. Thank God, we did not feel it here at home,” she said.

Soap opera author Aguinaldo Silva woke up early in Portugal and felt the earth move. “5:30 in the morning, 20 minutes after the earthquake here in Portugal that woke me up and made me jump out of bed. Everything was calm, no one on the street.”

CNN FEELS TREMORS LIVE

CNN Portugal presenters felt the tremors live on air. A video shared on social media shows the moment when the anchors became uncomfortable after a tremor in the studio while listening to a reporter give information about the attacks against Israel.

As of Monday morning (26), there were no reports of victims or serious damage. However, Civil Protection received numerous calls, from Alentejo to Coimbra, after the tremor, felt at 5:11 am (local time).

The earthquake was felt in several parts of the country, including Lisbon and Porto. Most of the calls to Civil Protection were from people asking what had happened and what they should do.

“We appeal to the population to remain calm and follow the recommendations of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority,” said the Portuguese government.
