A former carer for Mario Jorge Lobo Zagallo (1931-2024) has taken legal action to have her employment relationship recognized. She is asking for a large sum of money, claiming that she did not have ideal rest conditions while caring for the former coach 24 hours a day.
In the action, she also requests amounts related to FGTS, fines and overtime, claiming that she would have performed other functions during her dealings with Zagallo.
According to UOL, the woman also claims that she suffered from a “hostile and humiliating” work environment, especially due to the “harsh and offensive” manner of Mario Cesar, Zagallo’s son. He did not respond when contacted, and his lawyer could not be reached for comment.
According to information from the Regional Labor Court of the 1st Region of Rio de Janeiro, a hearing took place on the first day of August and the court offered a settlement proposal in the amount of R$18,000, without recognizing an employment relationship.
But the former caregiver did not accept and made a counteroffer worth R$190,000. This was also not accepted by Zagallo’s family.
Therefore, a new evidentiary hearing was scheduled for October 16.
