Announced on Friday afternoon (30), the suspension of X, the former Twitter, in Brazil, led artists and influencers to use the network — in many cases, a fundamental tool in their careers — to say goodbye (or see you soon) to their followers. Some were still confused.
“OX is going to drag us then?”, asked Larissa Manoela. “I’m shocked, I saw that Twitter is going to be taken down in 24 hours. I’m shocked. Soon they’ll ask us to go to Snapchat”, commented MC Mirella.
Felipe Neto was more succinct (“Bye, guys”), while Fiuk seemed to be thinking out loud: “I didn’t want to say goodbye… will we come back???”.
Presenter Adriane Galisteu seemed incredulous and chose to listen to her followers. “Guys, is that really it? We don’t have X in Brazil anymore? What do you think about this? I want to know your opinion,” she said. “I thought this was going to stay in a place that, no, in the end it would work out. What do you mean?”
It was like this, Adriane: OX went offline in Brazil on several devices, starting at midnight this Saturday (31), after the decision by STF (Supreme Federal Court) minister Alexandre de Moraes who suspended the platform’s activities after the company failed to indicate a legal representative in the country.
On Wednesday (28), Moraes ordered the owner of X, businessman Elon Musk, to appoint a new legal representative in Brazil within 24 hours, and stated that he would suspend the network if this did not happen. This Friday (30), the minister ordered the “immediate, complete and integral” shutdown of X’s operations.
