Antônia Fontenelle says she moved to the US ‘so as not to be woken up every day by a court officer’

Sentenced to three years and three months in semi-open prison for exposing the pregnancy of actress Karla Castanho, Antônia Fontenelle, 51, has been living in Las Vegas, United States, for almost a year. In a conversation last month with the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, on his program Na Lata, on YouTube, she said that the change happened ‘so as not to be woken up every day by a court officer’.

On Tuesday (3), Antônia said that her green card, the visa to stay in the country, was approved, and avoided talking about how she will serve the sentence determined by judge Daniela Barbosa Assumpção de Souza, who classified the presenter’s crimes against the actress as slander, defamation and insult.

The sentence also affected Adriana Kappaz, better known as Dri Paz on social media. The influencer was sentenced to one year, nine months and 22 days in an open regime, but was granted the benefit of replacing the custodial sentence with two restrictive rights sentences, one of which was community service and the other the payment of ten minimum wages in favor of the victim.

Antônia, in turn, who had already been ordered by the courts to pay R$50,000 in compensation to Klara Castanho, was not entitled to the same benefit due to her criminal record. The businesswoman lost her status as a first-time offender in October 2023, when she lost a legal battle against YouTuber Felipe Neto. Also in the document, as an aggravating factor, the judge mentions that Fontenelle has nine other crimes against honor on social media.
