Two hundred publishing houses, 280 stands, 200 cultural events, concerts, theater performances and much more await visitors
The biggest celebration of the Book “opens its gates” today, September 6, in the Areos Field, to welcome book lovers and attract new readers.
Two hundred publishing houses, 280 stands, 200 cultural events, concerts, theatrical performances, interactive educational events and much more will take place at the great 52nd Book Festival 2024, organized by the Association of Book Publishers (S.EK.B.), under the auspices of Ministry of Culture, the Municipality of Athens, the Athens Chamber of Commerce, the support of the Region of Attica, the support of the Culture, Sports and Youth Organization of the Municipality of Athens and the cooperation with the Little Paris of Athens, the Network for the Rights of the Child and the Philippos Conservatory Nakas.
Visitors to the Festival, against the backdrop of thousands of books, will have the opportunity to watch and participate in a diverse, cultural event. Among many other events, there will be: Children’s theater show “The Legend of Mulan” by the METHEXIS theater production company, Karagiozi performance by the “Nikola Tzivelekis” Shadow Theater, concert by the Greek Music Workshop of the Municipality of Athens, musical evenings by student ensembles of the Music School of Piraeus and students of the Filippos Nakas Conservatory, a concert by Mario Strofalis with Martha Moreleon and Irini Tumbaki, an event by the Hellenic Academy of Comics, a three-day presentation of first-time writers, a concert with Sofia Arvanitis, Nikos Kallinis, Makis Psaradelli and the Musical and Vocal Ensemble of Corinth “Ichoroi”.
The central theme of the 52nd Book Festival 2024 is entitled “Youth and Reading. “Spring depends on you” and is focused on the younger generations. In raising their awareness of critical issues, such as human rights, the environment, the correct use of technology, Artificial Intelligence, etc., in the answers that the book can give to key philosophical and practical questions and in the ways they can find through culture. The poster and the cover of the catalog of the 52nd Book Festival 2024 are decorated with the work of the distinguished Greek artist, Leonidas Giannakopoulos.
The 52nd Book Festival in the Areos Field operates daily, from 6 to 22 September 2024 with free entry.
Opening hours: Monday-Thursday 18:00-22:30, Friday & Saturday 18:00-23:00, Sunday 10:30-15:00 & 18:00-22:30.
The opening event will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 20:00.
