Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen will star in the mini-drama series centered on the murder of six-year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey, tentatively titled “JonBenét Ramsey.”

The 6-year-old girl was found dead inside her Colorado home on December 26, 1996, after her parents reported that she had been abducted.

The horrific crime shocked the US and is still unsolved.

The famous comedian and the British actor will play the parents of the little girl who had won many titles in children’s beauty pageants, with the support of her mother.

“Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen are an excellent duo to delve into this tragic story that has cast a great, haunting silence over American society for nearly three decades,” said Chris McCarthy, co-director of Paramount Global and president of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios.

Filming will soon begin in Calgary, Canada, with Richard LaGravenese serving as producer and executive producer.

Four of the eight episodes, including the first, will be directed by Anne Sewitsky who will also serve as an executive producer. “JonBenét Ramsey” creators Harrison Query and Tommy Wallach are writing the script, according to Deadline.
