Jon Bon Jovi helps save woman from bridge ledge

Rock legend Jon Bon Jovi has been praised by police for helping a woman in distress who was on the edge of a bridge on Tuesday night (10) in Nashville, Tennessee, United States.

The Nashville Metropolitan Police Department shared a video showing the artist and his crew on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge as a woman stood precariously over the Cumberland River, just outside the guardrail.

According to police, Bon Jovi, 62, and others spoke to the woman and helped her back onto the bridge walkway.

“It takes all of us helping to keep each other safe,” Police Chief John Drake said in a brief statement.

Bon Jovi was reportedly in Nashville filming a music video on the bridge, according to independent images posted on social media.

In the video released by police, a woman in a blue blouse can be seen holding onto the railing of the fence as she stands on the edge of the bridge.

Other people pass by, and a little further along the bridge, Bon Jovi’s crew appears to be setting up filming equipment.

Bon Jovi walks up to the woman with another person, while his entourage stands back. The singer can then be seen waving to her, and leaning on the railing next to her.

After about a minute, Bon Jovi walks over to the woman and, with the help of another woman, manages to get her back onto the pedestrian walkway on the bridge.

Other bystanders approach after the woman is safe — and Bon Jovi embraces her. A few minutes later, police video shows the singer walking off the bridge with her.

Posting the video on social media, the Nashville Police Department wrote: “Shout out to Jon Bon Jovi and his crew for helping a woman on the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge [na] Tuesday night.”

“Bon Jovi helped convince her to walk safely off the edge of the Cumberland River.”
