The Western Cyclades is recommended for an ideal one-week off-season holiday by the Italian Lonely Planet to hundreds of thousands of travelers, in order to get a “taste” of the real Cyclades by enjoying dreamy panoramas, excellent beaches and distinct local culture

Among the three main islands of the Western Cyclades, Sifnos occupies the first place, followed by Milos and Folegandros.

“White villages placed like pearls on the ridge of the island, iridescent light and turquoise waters are the “trade mark” of Sifnos. The Cycladic island of harmony is a wonderful and sophisticated destination, despite its barren appearance.

On the slopes of the central hills there are olive groves with terraces and an abundance of almond trees, oleanders and aromatic herbs. Every entrance to the island is “washed” by a blue sea and reveals a wonderful view of the Aegean. Today, Sifnos is internationally known for its pottery and unique cuisine,” reports the popular Italian media.

“The land, the clay and the local cuisine unite with the Cycladic beauty and create a magical place that can be enjoyed in all its glory, even after August. To be honest, every September we celebrate culture and gastronomy through an established festival” adds the Deputy Mayor of Tourism of the Municipality of Sifnos, Yiannis Rafeletos.

The 16th edition of the “Nikolaos Tselemendes” Cycladic Gastronomy Festival will be held on September 19, 20 and 21 https://www.instagram.com/visitsifnosisland/ bringing together unique flavors, aromas and traditions. During the three days of the Festival, the public will have the opportunity to watch live cooking demonstrations, participate in cooking workshops and enjoy traditional music and dance performances.
