The journalist Alexandra Paschalidou made a splash at the premiere of the show “Momsher Jenis Theona on ERT. And she had a lot to say about her childhood and the absence of her father – by necessity – from her and her siblings’ lives.

“My mom was mostly a single mother of three, she worked really hard, she cleaned offices. I couldn’t burden her with my own issues. My mom was a hero normally. My father, circumstances forced him to be absent, to be absent from our lives”, said Alexandra Paschalidou and continued:

“My father was forced, it was not his choice to go, for example, as an infantryman for 2 and a half years, to immigrate to Germany to work for a while, to leave on ships for another 2 and a half years. It was the financial conditions that we did not have that forced him to leave.

When he returned, however, he was not the same man. He had not bonded emotionally with his three daughters as he should have. He did other jobs, cleaning windows and stuff, but even in his free time we weren’t his priority.”

“My mother was a rock. She was working and didn’t have much time, so I would write her letters and leave them under her pillow. He didn’t reply to me often but when he did he would text me to take care of my sisters and be good at school. I cleaned, I cooked, I was excellent in school. I have learned on the job since I was very young and this has helped me a lot in my life”, concludes Alexandra Paschalidou in her shocking revelation.
