Mário Gomes, 71, took to social media on Monday (16) to report the eviction from his mansion in Joá, in the West Zone of Rio. The Globo heartthrob from the 70s published a video in which he graffitied the wall of the property with the phrase “I’m not leaving”.
“I’m not leaving! My family doesn’t deserve to go through this. I’m counting on you,” Gomes wrote in the Instagram post. Contacted by F5the actor did not comment.
Gomes and his family were evicted after the mansion was auctioned off to pay labor debts owed by seamstresses from his former clothing factory in Paraná. The house, which faced the sea and was valued at more than R$20 million, was sold for R$720,000.
According to the newspaper Extra, which witnessed the departure of the actor and his family before the video was recorded, he left the house dejected, carrying his clothes and some belongings in a moving truck, alongside his wife, Raquel, and his daughter.
Gomes is a candidate for city councilor for the Republicanos party. He asks for the profiles of Pablo Marçal, Bia Kicis, Nikolas Ferreira and Jair Bolsonaro to be tagged in the publication.
He was one of the most popular heartthrobs on TV Globo’s soap operas in the 1970s and 1980s, such as “Gabriela”, “Guerra dos Sexos” and “Vereda Tropical”. In March 2017, he made headlines for appearing selling hamburgers on a beach in Rio.
