Actor Mário Gomes, 71, said on his social media that he will sue presenter Geraldo Luís and RedeTV! for slander and defamation.
A report on the Geral do Povo show last Sunday (22) showed the state of the actor’s mansion after his eviction in Rio de Janeiro. At one point, the presenter stated that “even a dog was left there”.
Gomes didn’t like it and used his profile to deny that he had abandoned his pets and asked for a public retraction by posing with a dog, a cat and a rabbit.
“Although our family is peaceful in nature, we feel compelled to file a criminal complaint against RedeTV! and the presenter Geraldo Luís for slander and defamation. We demand a retraction to repair our image, which has been violently damaged,” he wrote in the caption.
According to him, animal protection organizations have questioned his responsibility towards animals. In a video, the actor, who is also a candidate for city council, said that the content of the report is false. When contacted, neither RedeTV! nor Geraldo Luís had commented until the publication of this text.
“I found the dog on the street asking God to be adopted. Of course the house was a mess. But accusing me of abandoning animals is absurd. You are playing with other people’s feelings. Your program should not have an audience. You are lying,” he added.
