The Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias had a meeting with the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Cyprus, Vassilis Palmas, today in Thessaloniki.
In a post on “X”, Mr. Dendias mentions, among other things, that the meeting took place “in the context of our regular contacts”, while underlining: “We discussed the defense cooperation between Greece and Cyprus and the latest international developments concerning security issues».
“Furthermore, we discussed the prospect of cooperation between Greece and Cyprus for joint participation and drawing up plans which will be funded by SAFE program of the European Unionin various fields, such as research and innovation» concludes Mr. Dendias.
As part of our regular contacts, I met today in Thessaloniki with the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Cyprus @PalmasVasilis. We discussed, among other things, defense cooperation 🇬🇷 – 🇨🇾 and the latest international developments regarding security issues.

Visit to the university pediatric hospital under construction in Thessaloniki
At the same time, Mr. Dendias visited his place University Pediatric Hospital under constructionwhich is being built with a donation from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, in Filliros, Thessaloniki.

As he mentioned in X: The Stavros Niarchos Foundation provides “expertise for Military Hospitals”, while underlining: “I was informed by the member of the board of directors of the foundation, ambassador E.T. Yannis Raptakis for the new hospital, which is part of the International Health Initiative and I felt proud and optimistic”.
“It is,” Mr. Dendias explains, “about one project of supranational importance». “It will offer, not only in Thessaloniki but in all the Balkans”, he adds, “people-centred health services, high quality care and hope for every child and their family».
The minister warmly thanked the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and its president Andreas Drakopoulos, “for their generosity and vision”. “The new hospital sends a message: the strong defense of a country also includes care for the health, education and well-being of the citizens,” concludes Mr. Dendias in his post.
