Cid Moreira was once confused with Chapelin and was called Cidão

by

Conversa com Bial aired, in the early hours of this Friday (4), an interview recorded with Cid Moreira in September 2020, at the height of the pandemic.

Called by Bial a friend, master and Citizen, as he was known among colleagues, the presenter, who died this Friday (4), told stories about his career, which began on radio stations and narrated commercials on TV.

One of the fun stories occurred at a gas station in Copacabana, Rio.

Cid was mistaken for Sérgio Chapelin by two women and heard a request to read the news more quickly on Jornal Nacional. The reason: they wanted to watch the soap opera.

Co-workers at Fantástico, the presenter took “tours” to Bial’s work desk, unhappy with the disorganization. “Look at what a messy table it is,” he told the people he took to see the space full of books up close.

The modernization of the voiceover and the documentary “Boa Noite”, by Clarice Saliby, were also part of the interview’s agenda.

In the documentary, he cites the closure of Jornal Nacional on August 17, 1987 as one of the most memorable of his career. It was the day of the death of the poet Carlos Drummond de Andrade. Standing, Cid read the poem “And now, José”, whispering the final verse. And he gave up the traditional good night.

“They lined up to greet me,” he told Bial.

JN’s legendary performance wearing a jacket, tie and shorts was also remembered. “It only happened once,” he said, explaining that he arrived late for work after being caught in a storm and didn’t have time to change from the waist down.

The possibility of delay became a recurring nightmare for Cid, who feared experiencing a similar situation again.

At the time of recording Conversa com Bial, the presenter took advantage of the isolation of the pandemic to study poetry. He responded as he would like to report the end of that difficult period of restrictions imposed by Covid.

“I would report as at the end of AI 5, with great joy and satisfaction.”
