Former participants of Big Brother Brasil (Globo) are already used to achieving celebrity status or, at least, being remembered for their participation in the reality show. However, the prominent position does not extend to politics, as the results of the municipal elections showed.
This year, five former inmates tried for political positions: Adrilles, from BBB 15, Babu, from BBB 21, Mara, from BBB 6, MarÃlia, from BBB 23, and Sol Vega, from BBB 4.
Of these, only the first managed to be elected. Adrilles Jorge became a councilor in São Paulo for the União Brasil party. Former commentator for Jovem Pan, he received 25,038 votes.
Babu Santana (PSOL), did not have the same success that BBB 20 gave him. Candidate for councilor, he did not get a direct seat in the Rio de Janeiro City Council, but remained as a substitute. He received 5,212 votes in his first election.
Like him, Sol Vega (PDT), from BBB 4, won 111 votes and got a place as a substitute councilor in Rio de Janeiro.
Mara Viana, BBB 6 champion, ran as vice-mayor of Porto Seguro, in Bahia, alongside Luigi Rotunno (PSDB). They came third with 12,031 votes (14.23%).
MarÃlia Miranda, “Cabrita” from BBB 23, received only 400 votes and was not elected councilor for São Paulo. She ran for the Republican party. After the investigations, she expressed herself on social media: “Shame? Me? Of me? I’m not ashamed at all (…). I lost? I lost. That’s it. What’s up?”
