The “Dark Decade 1964-1974“, the new six-episode documentary series by Alexis Papahelas, comes this Monday, October 14, on SKAI TV and illuminates unknown behind-the-scenes of the most turbulent decade of our modern history.
Episode 1: The Holy Trinity
At first episode of the series, entitled “The Holy Trinity“, we go back in time and pick up the thread of history from 1964. We follow the political protagonists of the events and their relationship with the Palace, the Army and the American diplomats and agents.
Who was the “Holy Trinity” that commanded Greece in the 1960s? What role did CIA agents play? What was hidden behind the rift between Constantinos – Georgios Papandreou and the apostasy of 1965? How did Konstantinos Mitsotakis react? What happened in Cyprus and we almost got to war? Who played the crucial role behind the scenes?
Rare testimonies capture the events that paved the way for the coup d’état of April 21, 1967, while audio documents come to light for the first time and take us inside the White House, at the time when decisive decisions were being made for Greece and Cyprus.
