The qualifying process was disruptive from Q1with Antonelli needing the last lap to pass, while the title frontrunners started low: Norris 4th, Verstappen 9th and Piastri 10th. THE Hajar was fastest in Q1, with Hamilton 3mm back and Russell third, showing the battle would be tough.
In Q2 the situation calmed down a bit, with Norris to set the fastest lap and take a clear lead over Verstappen and Piastri. Disqualifications were expected, with Tsunoda, Ocon, Hulkenberg, Alonso and Lawson missing out.
Q3 was Norris’ moment. Although Leclerc looked strong early on, the Briton found the lap he needed and went first, letting go behind him the two Ferraris.
Russell and young Antonelli also made a great appearanceleaving him Piastri in 8th place. However, the Australian gains a place due to Saint’s penalty, moving up to 7th for the start.
