A resident of Orlando, Florida, since 2017, Nívea Stelmann showed this Wednesday (9) how she prepared her house for the arrival of Milton, one of the most powerful hurricanes in recent decades and feared due to its potential for destruction.
The actress said, on social media, that she and her family followed all instructions given by local authorities to avoid problems caused by the storm.
Safety measures include placing outdoor furniture, such as tables and chairs, inside the pool, tying up pine foliage and dismantling the bounce house of the youngest daughter, Bruna, 10 years old.
“We prepared ourselves, obeyed all orders. Everything they indicated was done,” he said. “Now it’s up to God, with the force of nature.”
She stated that in the United States the predictions for this type of phenomenon work and it is possible to adopt preventive measures.
“The misfortune is announced. We know that there is a lot of tension, a lot of people could lose their lives. This is something that affects us”, he continued. “But we are prepared for what will happen.”
She reported that in Orlando the situation is calmer compared to other regions of Florida. She and her family didn’t have to leave the house. “If there was a curfew, we would have obeyed it.”
Also as part of the preparations, Nívea said that she, her husband, children and dog would all stay in the same room, with fewer windows, or in the property’s closet.
“We’re scared, but there’s no point in panicking because there’s nothing we can do. Panicking will only make us feel sick, anxious and won’t solve anything at all,” he added.
