Peter Schaefer’s “Detective”, a play with a strong aroma of the 60’s, which undermines social conventions and balances between comedy and social satire, goes up on March 11, 2022 at the Royal Theater from the State Theater of Northern Greece.
The new production of KTHBE is a comic story of love and infidelity, enriched with elements of a detective novel and prank, which “unfolds” the paradoxical and silent relationship between Belinda and the detective that her jealous husband put to watch.
“Detective” was first performed in 1962 at the Globe Theater with Kenneth Williams and Maggie Smith and the English title of the play is “The Public Eye”.
Efi Drossou refers to this “public eye” in her directorial note: “The public eye, the mentalities, the obsessions, the musts, the common mind. What has changed since the ’60s? What did we overcome? Did culture and knowledge help us become freer? Safer is smart, he quickly offers us the first smile that soon becomes a laugh. Everyone has secrets, everyone wears a mask, everyone is guilty and innocent together. A text full of twists and turns with a strong comic element and deep dives in the confessional mood of the characters “.
The scenography is written by Danae Pana, the costumes by Christos Broufas, the music by Stelios Daras and the lighting by Stelios Tzolopoulos. Performers: Dimitris Diakosavvas (Julian), Thodoris Polyzonis (Charles) and Natassa Daliaka (Belinda).
Performance duration: 95 minutes, without break. Performances: Wednesday, Sunday (19.00), Thursday, Friday, Saturday (21.00).
