Sidney Sweeney says her family made a lot of sacrifices as she pursued her dreams in Hollywood as a teenager. Speaking to Glamor , the 27-year-old actress detailed the difficult time of the family’s move from Washington to be closer to Southern California. Her parents divorced and went bankrupt in 2016, as she revealed.

“I knew that I could never actually fail because my family really did lose everything,” the Emmy-nominated actress said. “They got a divorce. Whether or not this was due to the fact that I came here, it was definitely decisive for me. So I knew I had to succeed in some capacity so it wouldn’t be useless.”

Sweeney she admitted that there was a time when she felt like she had failed, before making major strides in her career. The “Euphoria” actress said the people she knew in Washington were not particularly supportive of her efforts.

Sydney Sweeney explained that because of the experiences she “carries” and the difficulties she faced, she is not wasteful and does not spend her money needlessly. “I come from a family where I saw my parents lose everything and it terrifies me,” explained and added: “I will always carry a fear inside me.”

Finally, the actress reflected on how her humble beginnings helped her stay balanced amid her rapid rise to fame. “For 20 years I was this person,” Sweeney said. “Just in the last five years my life has changed. You didn’t see it because I wasn’t famous. I have managed and bought everything myself and take care of myself and my family.”
