In the presence of the Minister of Culture Linas Mendonis, the patron of the Most Reverend Metropolitan Theoklitos of Stagios and Meteora and a large number of people, the opening ceremony was held Holy Church of Agios Dimitriosin the settlement of Psiloma in the Municipality of Meteora. His temple Agios Dimitrios is located at the northwest end of the settlement, Psiloma of the Municipality of Meteora. Its construction is connected with the thief Giannis Pseiras who operated during the second half of the 18th century in the chariotry of Hasia. At the same time, the well-known “Pseiras bridge” seems to have been built, at a distance of 300m from the exit to Psiloma on the road to Deskatis. The work of highlighting and restoring the church, classified as a historical monument, was carried out by the Ephorate of Antiquities of Trikala, within the framework of the NSEP 2014-2020 (PEP THESSALIA 2014-2020) with a budget of €500,000.

The Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni stated:

Today is a day of celebration for the residents of Psiloma, but also for the Ministry of Culture, which attributes yet another restored monument to the local community and worship. The inscription, above the western door of the church, informs us that the construction and wall painting of the church was completed in 1791, at the expense of the Hassioti “captain” thief Giannis Pseiras. The purpose of the Ministry is to protect, highlight and attribute the monumental stock of our Motherland to the Greek people, who are the carriers of this culture. The restoration of the Holy Church of Agios Dimitrios was a priority not only for me, but also for all my colleagues in the Ministry. It is our obligation to future generations. Only if we know our roots, we can have a stable and creative future. At the same time, a monument, a cultural asset, a cultural space automatically becomes a development pole, which makes it very important for the local and regional society. The conditions for financing this specific project from the European programs were created by the contribution of the people who love the monument and their place. Therefore, it is a rudimentary return of honor to those who contributed. In the second phase applying the conservation study, the holographic temple was preserved and this amazing decoration emerged.

I would like to thank Krystallia Manzanas, her colleagues, the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at EFA and the relevant Directorates, who dealt with the monument. I especially thank the regional Authority for the essential support and cooperation over time».
