The 311 losses related to property insurance (estimated compensation €11.02 million) and 27 losses to car insurance (estimated €0.12 million)
The investigation of the EAEE (Association of Insurance Companies of Greece) has been completed for the first assessment of the compensations of the Greek insurance market for the damages of the property and car insurances from the forest fires that broke out in Attica (Varnavas, B/A Attiki and others) on period 11 – 13 August 2024.
According to the statements of the insurance companies participating in the relevant investigation of the EAEE, they were mentioned a total of 338 damages.
The amount of compensation for them is estimated at a total of €11.14 million.
Of these, 311 damages they concerned the property insurances (estimated damages €11.02 million) and 27 damages car insurance (estimate €0.12 million).
THE Chairman of the Property, Transport & Reinsurance CommitteeErrikos Moatsos stated: “In the summer of 2024, we had another incident of forest fires in the Attica region, to which the insurance companies responded quickly and directly. It is worth noting that according to the survey, most of the damage concerns residences, with the estimate of these compensations exceeding €9 million. Detailed information on the damage from catastrophic phenomena in Greece to the insured assets from 2015 to today is available on the EAEE Nat – Cat Monitor natural disaster dashboard, which has been updated with the incident in question».
