Nova, a member of the United Group of the leading telecommunications and media provider in Southeast Europe, is a co-producer of the films “Cafe 404” & “Murphy’s Law” which will be screened at the 65th Thessaloniki Film Festival, as announced with the former participating in the competition section Film Forward and the second to make a special festival avant premiere. The two films, after their premiere in the cinemas, will be broadcast in Prime television on the Novacinema channels, the ultimate cinema destination.
Cafe 404: A subversive black comedy by Alexandros Tsilifonis
The movie “Cafe 404” is a fast-paced contemporary dark comedy that explores moral dilemmas that we encounter in everyday life, highlighting the struggle for survival in a harsh environment. The film takes us to an old cafe on a deserted side street of the National Highway, where Jimmy struggles to save his family business from bankruptcy. The story begins when a botched drug deal leaves behind a bag full of cash, pitting Jimmy and the three eccentric employees of Café 404 in a struggle for survival and twists and turns.
It is the first feature film by Alexandros Tsilifonis (The T3ST, Rookie, The Mock room). The script was written by Sotiris Nikias, Antonis Tsiotsiopoulos and the director himself. The original music is by Stefano Fasce. The title song of the film was written by Andreas Tsilifonis and performed by Christos Dantes. The film is based on excellent performances from an excellent cast with Dimitri Gripari, (Dangerous Liaisons, Mary & George) Margaux Karayianni (Home Exchange Nightmare), Jerome Kaluta (My big fat Greek wedding, Backstrom ) and Antonis Tsiotsiopoulos (Magnetic Fields, Arcadia ). Maria Nauflioti (The Choir of Charito, The Beach), Vassilis Koukalani (Kandahar, Tehran) and Kris Radanov (Eteros Ego, Greek Salad) in characteristic roles.
“Murphy’s Law”: A comedy of high standards by Angelos Franzis
“Murphy’s Law”, the new film by Angelos Franzis, director of the blockbuster “Happiness”, is a high-standard comedy that breaks the code with its subversive script and clever humor. The leading role is embodied by Katia Goulioni, with an impressive cast by her side (Andreas Konstantinou, Konstantinos Markoulakis, Tonia Sotiropoulou, Vagelio Andreadaki, Lefteris Polychronis, Thanos Tokakis, Christos Stergioglou, Lydia Fotopoulou, Viktoria Bitounis, Effi Rabsilber, Evggela Vogiatzis ).
The script is written by Angelos Frantzis, Katerina Bei and Kostis Samaras, while the music is by Stamatis Kraunakis. After an accident, Maria Aliki, a failed actress in search of big roles, enters a reality where she is asked to play all the possible roles that life could have given her if she had made different choices.
