There is a great mobilization of the Fire Brigade early in the morning in Nafpaktos as a forest fire has broken out in Platanitis Nafpaktos. Shortly after six in the morning, a message was issued by 112 calling for those in the Ano Platanitis area to move away to Antirrio and Nafpaktos.

Speaking to SKAI, Nafpaktia Mayor Basil Gizas spoke of a great fire. He noted that the inhabitants of the settlement were safely removed, and needed the intervention of EKAB to move a woman with mobility problems.

Meanwhile, recently in his statements to SKAI, Aitoloakarnania Vice -Mayor Thanasis Mavromatis said the fire was in recession. He noted that in the area there is a strong wind that is still directing the fire away from the settlements, to the mountain where there is a forest. He estimated that if there were no resuscitation due to the winds, the fire would be limited.

Civil Protection Deputy Mayor Thomas Kotronias told SKAI that the fire started at five o’clock in the morning and, according to the first estimates, had burned 1,000 acres. He noted that it is very positive that the front is near the sea, which allows aerial means to refuel immediately. He said that the settlements close to the flames were safely evacuated.

On the front of the fire, 105 firefighters operate, with 3 groups of 6th EMMO hikers and 33 vehicles, while five firefighters throw five firefighters and three helicopters. At the same time, the work of the Fire Brigades assist aquifers and work machines of the self -government. According to the Fire Brigade, the settlement of Ano Platanitis is not immediately at risk, where earlier in 112, residents were asked to be removed to Antirrio and Nafpaktos. The winds have also been reduced, which facilitates the firefighting task.
