Legendary British rock band The Cure, fronted by charismatic frontman Robert Smith, releases on Friday the his first album since 2008titled “Songs of a Lost World,” which has already received rave reviews.

This is the 14th album from the group who made an indelible mark on the 1980s and 1990s with songs – hits such as “Boys Don’t Cry“, “Close To Me” and “Friday I’m In Love“.

The “Songs of a lost world” is available on vinyl, CD, cassette and streaming.

Although Smith is 65 today he maintains his unique style, messy hair and signature eye makeup and red lipstick.

Early reviews are already extremely positive, with the Guardian calling ‘Songs of a Lost World’ the group’s best album since 1989’s ‘Disintegration’.

“The band is at their artistic peak: melancholic and soulful, with a dynamic sound that matches the emotional impact of the lyrics“, writes the Guardian’s review.

In “Songs of a Lost World”, Robert Smith sings about melancholy, talks about death and mourning.

“Death is unfortunately more and more present every day. When you’re young, you romanticize him. Then it starts happening to your close family and friends. And now it’s a different story“, he told the BBC ahead of the album’s release.

The songs on the album are “in a row in such a way that it leads you somewhere“, he said in an interview posted on the band’s YouTube page.

The Cure’s last record was 2008’s “4.3 Dream”.

But the band, which was created in 1976 in Crawley in Sussex in the south of England, and which has sold more than 30 million records worldwide, continues to fill halls and stadiums wherever it performs.

In July 2018, The Cure celebrated their 40th anniversary with a concert on the lawn of Hyde Park, London, in front of 65,000 people.
