To honor the memory of the journalist and writer Dimitris Triantafyllidis, who passed away a few days ago, skai.gr collected and presents four radio broadcasts in which the well-known historian talks about the “World of the Russians”.

Russian history is viewed as a continuous palimpsest where different cultures and powers composed Russia. The descent of the Vikings from Scandinavia brought the warriors into contact with Slavic tribes, establishing settlements that developed into major centers such as Kiev and Novgorod.

This influence affected Russian administration and culture, while the gradual shift to Eastern Orthodoxy and Byzantium strengthened religious and political unity.

Later, the Mongols of the Golden Horde imposed a despotic model that the Russian rulers adopted, forming a strong, centralized state. The historical evolution of Russia through subjugation and cultural fermentation continues until the beginning of the 19th century, when its imperial course is consolidated.
