An auction of a page from a lyric notebook written by the legendary Freddie Mercury is eagerly awaited by Queen fans and collectors around the world.

The page contains nearly complete lyrics, written in black ink, from the band’s classic hits “Who Wants To Live Forever” on one side and “A Kind Of Magic” on the other.

The auction will be held on November 26 by Omega Auctions and Mercury’s handwritten lyrics are expected to fetch between £100,000 and £150,000.

The handwritten lyrics page is being sold by the foundation of David Richards, the record producer and owner of Mountain Studios in Montreux, Switzerland, home to the Queen Museum.

Omega Auctions auctioneer Paul Fairweather said: “Freddie’s rendition of ‘Who Wants To Live Forever’ is unforgettable and ‘A Kind Of Magic’ is an absolute Queen classic.”

The lyrics to “Who Wants To Live Forever” were previously exhibited at the Queen Studio Experience Museum in Montreux, Switzerland, which opened in 2013.

The back of the page containing lyrics to “A Kind Of Magic” was discovered after it was removed from a display case at the exhibition, the auction house said.

“We will no doubt see a huge response from Queen fans and collectors around the world,” said Fairweather, adding: “I was with the family of the late David Richards when we first turned the page and discovered the lyrics to ‘A Kind Of Magic” on the back. It was a magical moment and I will never forget it,” he explained.

Both of the legendary rock band’s hits were released as singles during 1986 – with A Kind Of Magic reaching number three in the UK singles chart.

Freddie Mercury died in 1991 at the age of 45 after a battle with AIDS.
