With her memorable career being honored this month at the Academy Film Museum in Los Angeles, the legendary Sophia Loren in an interview with Deadline she said that she has no plans to retire, even after a 75-year career. Like ours, Nana Mouschouriwho on her 90th birthday, made it clear that she is not retiring from music.

“I don’t want to think about hindsight” he said characteristically. “I want to think about my next film. I will think about my background when I retire and I hope I never retire.” One of the last great stars of Hollywood’s golden age, the Oscar-winning actress reveals the secret of her career. As he explains, committing to “plan A” is the key to overcoming any obstacle without looking for easy solutions.

“When you’re faced with an obstacle that seems insurmountable, you take a deep breath, keep going and find the right solution, because you have no choice but to move forward.” says the star and adds: “There are no plan Bs, only plan A.”

It’s been 60 years since she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Two Women, becoming the first actress to win the golden statuette for a foreign language film.

She says she regrets not being in the room to receive it but “I really never in a million years thought I would win.” The announcement of her award came from another Hollywood legend, Cary Grant, she recalls.

“When I picked up the phone, Grant said, ‘You won.’ I asked him to repeat it five times because I couldn’t believe it. Those two little words changed my life.”

And he adds: “You never forget the feeling of winning an Oscar. It’s so many emotions at once. It’s crazy, empowering, destabilizing, amazing, terrifying, inspiring and humbling. It means a lot not only because your colleagues give it to you, but then you join a family of actors who you admire and respect throughout your life.”

She also describes the honorary Oscar she received in 1991 as a “wonderful and unexpected experience” as she shared it with the three men in her life.
