The personal doctor “is an institution that was delayed in our country because its importance was underestimated both by the medical community and by the citizens” said Kyriakos Mitsotakis saying that 44% of the insured have not yet joined the personal doctor.
“He is the one who will advise us about vaccines, tests. Which will direct us to the hospital. It will update the patient’s digital file, which we will all have shortly.”
As the prime minister said, all the rural and specialists of the last general medicine are added.
“Everyone will be able to become personal doctors,” he stressed, emphasizing that their income per patient will be independent of their other earnings.
In addition, he emphasized that “the registration limit will reach 2000 citizens per personal doctor. An additional fee that can reach 11,000 euros per year.”
For the citizens, he pointed out that they will not be charged for the services, while they will also have the possibility to work with the doctor of their choice, even outside the municipality where they live.
Also, the prime minister mentioned that from now on, those graduates who follow the specialty of general family medicine or internal pathology will be given the possibility to be paid with a lump sum of 40,000 euros.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis also mentioned the establishment of 8 university health centers which are staffed with teaching and research staff. “The goal is that such emergencies do not arrive at hospitals, but that they arrive at a primary health center,” said the prime minister.
Also, 2.6 million women aged 21 – 65 have been informed about cervical cancer prevention. This action is combined with vaccination against cancer.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis also referred to the steps being taken in the field of prevention, saying that it is decisive for life expectancy.
“For the first time we are getting an organized prevention and public health program,” he said.
“The “Prolamvano” program is an “umbrella” program that enables almost the entire population to have the basic preventive examinations on time and free of charge. It started with the Fofi Gennimata program for the valid diagnosis of breast cancer. 500,000 women had a screening mammogram as a result of this program. About 30,000 were identified with finds. The goal is to examine 2,000,000 Greek women.
