The tourists who arrive in thousands in the summer in our country, have taken care in advance to gather information about the attractions they will visit, but also about the places they will dine. Thanks to the high school students of Patmos, they will be able to have other information, with the hope that they will remain … unnecessary.
In the context of their participation in Junior Achievement Greece, the children created a virtual student business, so that tourists have in their hands a complete guide with information on first aid in case of need. So, from their mobile phone or tablet, they will be able to find anything related to health issues: from the nearest hospital to the place where defibrillators are installed.
“The virtual business”Life Saver“Patmos High School solves a very important problem in the field of tourism, that of safety and health of millions of tourists, who visit our country every year”, notes the responsible professor of the department Argyro Yamaiouwho coordinated the group and was with the students at every step: from the conception of the idea to its implementation.
“Our team has created an application that will provide useful information to tourists, in order to facilitate them in case of need for first aid, during their stay in our country. The application provides information for hospitals, doctors, pharmacies as well as other useful instructions depending on the area where each tourist is located “, explains the Mr. Yamaiou.
As soon as the tourists in our country step on their feet, they will be informed on their mobile phones that they have the opportunity to download the “Life Saver». The application, apart from being innovative and useful, is easy to use and simple and is addressed to a large number of tourists, with all the information in Greek and English, while soon there will be the digital health map and in other languages, as students say.
The reason for this idea was the daily life of the children, as they live in an area without a hospital. So they identified the need for continuous access to health structures so they decided to map the structures of our country, starting from the Dodecanese and aiming to expand the census. In fact, the students’ plans for their business are big, since they intend to cooperate with large airlines and those related to the tourism sector.
“A small school solves a big problem”, said, speaking to APE-MPE, the student mentor Markos Veremis, President of JA Greece- President of Upstream – Partner BigPi Ventures – Co-Chair of the BSE Innovation Committeewhich is part of the new Inspiring Mentoring institution, to inspire students to step up their efforts to create their own “business”.
“I was impressed with the quality and will of the students, as well as the dedication of their teacher. His idea “Life Saver“is simple, but basic for the health of visitors in our country. Once again we see that his Virtual Business Junior Achievement“It opens up new avenues in the minds of children and complements experiential elements that are missing from basic education,” he said, noting that working with these children he learned from them and they learned many things from him.
This is not the first time this school has participated in the competition. Last year he took part and impressed with the idea of creating an outboard engine using solar energy.
