Arrested just over two months ago on charges of sexual abuse, extortion, prostitution and other crimes, Sean “Diddy” Combs was once again the target of a new controversy. The rapper is accused of violating prison rules and attempting to “corruptly influence the testimony of witnesses” while serving time at the federal detention center in Brooklyn, New York.
According to court documents filed last Friday (15), Combs allegedly used other inmates’ telephone access through an “unauthorized third-party messaging service.” Furthermore, he allegedly instructed his children to start a “social media campaign” with the aim of influencing a potential jury. The trial of the case is scheduled for May 5, 2025.
The new accusations are part of the documentation sent by the Court to Sean “Diddy” Combs’ lawyers, in which a new request for bail was denied under conditions of house arrest and 24-hour monitoring. According to People magazine, prosecutors allege that the rapper used the telephone access of fellow prisoners and instructed his partners to “pay the inmates” through bank transfer applications and account deposits.
Combs also allegedly made calls to three people, instructing that other individuals be included in the calls, which would make it difficult to identify the group. This practice is described as “not authorized by the BOP [Departamento de Prisões dos EUA]”, as it compromises the ability to monitor who is involved in conversations.
Another accusation points to Diddy’s attempt to “influence the potential jury in the criminal case”, according to the document. Prosecutors claim that a video published by the tycoon’s children was strategically planned. “Under carefully selected guidance from the defendant, the defendant’s children posted a video to their respective social media accounts showing them gathered to celebrate the defendant’s birthday,” they detail. Furthermore, Diddy is accused of anonymously leaking videos favorable to his defense.
