While an iconic figure on European television, Mr Nikos Aliagas he “carries” Greece inside him. Aliagas was born and raised in Paris to Greek immigrant parents. He comes from Stamna Etoloakarnanias on his father’s side and from Messolonghi on his mother’s side.

“On Sundays we got into our father’s car as if we were leaving for a long trip. The promise was the Eiffel Tower. We had to pass through the popular eastern districts of the city, cross the Seine and reach the Iéna bridge. We weren’t like tourists though, we were going to see the Tower as if we were going on a pilgrimage”he had said in an interview.

His love for Greece is well known. He remains the proud representative of our country abroad. In every public appearance, he makes sure to remember his own eternal Greece. And just like that, he “uploaded” a video on social media of himself dancing chamiko with the Eiffel Tower in the background.

“Sometimes it surrounds you and you can’t resist the sound of it… When you’ve just finished work and you feel the need to dance”Nikos Aliagas wrote in his post. The French still have a particular weakness for him, recognizing in his face not only their most popular presenter but also the up-and-coming Greek.
