This year she said two yeses and we are already enjoying her in one of them “The Punisher”
We first met her in the role of Stella in the series “Don’t start murmuring” in 2016 as a TV couple of Yiannis Tsimitselis. And then we didn’t see her in a series in a consistent role again until this season when she returned to television in not one but two series with one already playing ‘The Punisher’ and the other ‘Call Me Mama’ coming up.” She herself Danae Epithymiadis talked about everything on My Tv and Sofia Tsirka.
-How is this season for you?
“Professionally, I am very happy to have this collaboration in ALPHA with the series ‘The Punisher.’ It is a job that is enjoyable in many ways. I’m working with good actors, directors, and it’s the first time I’ve done something so long and fast-paced on TV, and it’s adventurous and has an interest for me at this stage. Otherwise, it’s a difficult period, but we stay positive and focus on the things that give us joy in everyday life”

-Does acting give you joy?
“Yes, acting gives me great joy and especially when it’s done in nice conditions like this job. It’s a pleasure to work with people I appreciate and we kind of speak the same language. And even more so in television where, due to the fast pace, you don’t always have that luxury. This is a good moment for me and I’m enjoying it”
-Are you selective in your collaborations?
“I’m very selective and I try as much as I can in terms of survival to be in collaborations – whether on television, in the cinema, or in the theater – where I feel like I’m with people with whom I can communicate and meet artistically. So I go to the collaborations where this happens. Otherwise, I choose to work on my own projects, as I write and direct.”
-We rarely see you on TV…
“Yes. I had done ‘Murmur’, which was a big thing for me and it took me a while to come back and find my footing, so I’ve done a bit of TV since then. I needed to work in the theater. The exhibition can offer you openings at work, but at the same time it also has a part that, depending on the phase you are in, you may not be able to completely manage. I think that now I am in a phase to manage it better”.
-How did the proposal for the role in “The Punisher” come about?
“We knew Michalis Constantatos, the director, from a long time ago in the theater. There was an appreciation, but we hadn’t happened to work together. And now, through Miranda Rostantis, the person responsible for the cast, we made some appointments and ended up with the role of the namesake Danae. Which is funny, because especially during the first filming, when Leonidas and Alexis were talking abruptly to Danae at work, it made me go home giddy because I heard my name. On the other hand, it also created an intimacy for the role.”
-We are also expecting the “Call me mom” series on ALPHA. Tell me a few words about this collaboration as well.
“I had the pleasure of working with Antonis Angelopoulos again and after “Murmoura” we will be in something different and with beautiful actors, and especially women. And all that energy had something therapeutic about that time when we all came together and matched. I really loved this series. There is something very moving and disarming about working with children. It’s so real what kids do, you just have to react to what they give you.
Nausicaa, who plays the little girl in the serial, is truly charismatic. The whole series, however, has something touching. It is well written, human. The main moral dilemma of the series is whether you can take the law into your own hands in extreme situations where no one agrees to help, which in this particular case was a child. And precisely because it has to do with a child, I’m extra excited. There were scenes in the series dealing with child abuse that I couldn’t read. The serial approaches the whole issue very bravely.”
-Such stories are good to present?
“Very. It’s all about how you present something. Sometimes, there is a beautification in the presentation of violence of any form. Approaching a story with sensitivity and responsibility, entering people’s homes and learning what is really happening and how we can help, is important for our society. Talking is the only form of healing we can offer society and ourselves. It’s not that the series will give you a solution, but it will make you think.”
