Nearly three years after filmmaker Halina Hutchins tragically died on set, the much-talked-about “Rust” had its world premiere at the Camerimage International Film Festival in Poland last week.

Although the protagonist Alec Baldwin did not attend, spoke to Variety, from the Turin Film Festival about the tragic incident and the difficulties facing in recent years due to the case.

“This is obviously the hardest thing I’ve ever faced in my life” the actor told Variety. “Apart from the victims themselves, what hurts me the most is what it has done to my wife who has been very traumatized by this. There was a lot of pain. When you’re married to someone and everything is going pretty well… and the floor falls out from under your feet it’s very scary and very annoying. And we try to get away from those things. Because the film doesn’t stand alone. It will always be overshadowed by that fact.”

Alec Baldwin, in his first appearance at a Festival since the tragic event, revealed that he does not want to see “Rust”, while expressing his desire that the film be sold and shown in cinemas. He revealed that he has waived his fee and the money has been given to Hutchins’ husband, Matt. “I haven’t seen the movie. I hope it will be released, it will be released in theaters. To bring money back for its investors. You never want those people who believed in your work to be left empty-handed.” he reported.

The actor emphasized his priority to remain strong and present for his family. “I want to put everything about ‘Rust’ behind me so I can go do other things for my kids. At this age, I am 66 years old, I want to have the energy for my children. For the past two years I have been “drained” by this situation…we have an obligation to save some of our best years for our children. And that’s the hard part for me.” concluded.
