Tours to “secret” villages, explorations in unique caves and dreamy beaches are suggested by the award-winning travel blog “Where Life is Great”
Andros tops the annual list of the 11 best places in the world to visit recommended by the award-winning travel blog “Where Life is Great” after trips to four continents and research into new travel trends carried out each year by the editorial team of the blog.
The international travel blog’s annual list includes – in addition to Andro – Ronda in Spain, the Japanese city of Aizu-Wakamatsu, Torino in Italy, Sri Lanka, Australia’s Fraser Island, Antigua in Guatemala, Hoi – If in Vietnam, the Vargia cave-monastery in Georgia, Zakopane in Poland and Gibraltar.
In her extensive article, the experienced blogger and photographer Marta Ostoya (she has traveled to 50 countries around the world and has over 560,000 professional photographs to her credit) singles out the traditional alleys, the picturesque fishing villages, the extensive walking network, the unique architecture of ‘Andros but also the characteristic local dishes such as frutalia and almonds, while highlights the suitability of the destination for pre- and post-summer holidays.
Tours to “secret” villages, explorations in unique caves and enjoying nature on dreamy beaches are some of the favorite habits described by the blogger.
“Who would have imagined that in less than three hours from Athens there is an impressive destination that offers unforgettable experiences without having to waste time commuting when paradise is next door?” states in her text.
Ostoya’s visit to Andros came about after an invitation from the Municipality and hospitality with the support of the local business network CTN Andros
“The actions we implement as a Municipality in collaboration with professionals and agencies aim to expand the tourist season. The statistics of this season justify our choices”, comments the Mandated Municipal Councilor for Tourism of the Municipality of Andros, Nikos Moustakas. According to the eight-year data of the port authority of Andros, this year the destination set a record of arrivals for the period May – August 2024, while the arrivals for the non-peak tourist months, May and June, had a “historic high” with 25,238 and 38,963 arrivals respectively. In the same context, the arrivals of September were the largest of the last eight years with 29,297 passengers and an increase of 17.9% compared to last year. It is noted that the decision to include Andros in the list was formed after a scheduled contact and detailed presentation to the blogger by the Municipality’s delegation at the international exhibition WTM 2024 in London.
