After the success of the Selton Mello lookalike contest, a Rio cinema will now promote a competition between Fernanda Torres lookalikes. The actor from “I’m Still Here” was thrilled with the honor and that’s what the organizers want to repeat.

The competition between Selton look-alikes took place last Sunday (1) at Estação Net de Cinema, a traditional point for cinephiles, in the south of Rio. The event brought together around 250 people and 16 candidates. None of them looked exactly like the actor, but the celebration seemed to be more important than the resemblance, and it had repercussions on social media.

The organization confirmed that it will hold a competition for Fernanda’s lookalikes, but has not yet set the date for the new event — which will happen soon. Communication will be done through “wanted” posters, pasted on posts in the city (as in the case of Selton’s lookalikes), and also via the internet. Contestants must go to the cinema headquarters to compete for the position on the day the competition is scheduled.

Selton Mello and Fernanda Torres play Rubens and Eunice Paiva in “I’m Still Here”, a film directed by Walter Salles and featuring Fernanda Montenegro. The film was released at the Venice Film Festival, where it received the award for best screenplay, and could represent Brazil at the Oscars.
