This year, instead of one category for best actor and another for best actress, both will compete in the best performance category — in a soap opera or in a series and miniseries.

Among the soap operas, “Renascer” (Globo), shown from January to September at 9 pm, ranked among the finalists by telling in its remake the story of José Inocêncio (Marcos Palmeira) and his family, cocoa planters in Ilhéus , in Bahia. Juan Paiva, interpreter of João Pedro, youngest son of the patriarch, is nominated for best performance.

“No Rancho Fundo” aired on Globo between April and November, at 6pm. The plot also brought the interior of the northeast as the main setting and entertained the public with the search for Paraíba tourmaline. Andrea Beltrão, Zefa Leonel, is in the running for her role.

“Mania de Você”, another Globo primetime soap opera, is also nominated for the trophy. The plot has been airing since September, and features Viola (Gabz), Rudá (Nicolas Prattes) and Luma (Agatha Moreira), as well as the villain Mavi. He is played by Chay Suede, another contender for the award.

“Garota do Momento”, the current 6pm soap opera, is Globo’s fourth nominee. Back in the 1950s, Beatriz (Duda Santos) goes to Rio de Janeiro in search of her mother, Clarice (Carol Castro), and discovers that another Bia (Maisa) was raised as a daughter in her place.

“Volta Por Cima” is not in the running, but Jéssica Ellen represents the plot in the nomination for her performance. With the character Madá, she enchants the audience with her willpower to support her family after her father’s tragic death.

Finally, Netflix debuted in the world of soap operas with two nominations: “Pedaço de Mim” competes for best work and Juliana Paes, for the acting award. The streaming platform’s melodrama tells the dilemma of Liana, who becomes pregnant with twins — but each one is the son of a different father.
