On December 3, Middleton attended the Official Welcome Ceremony at Horse Guards Parade to welcome the Emir of Qatar on an official visit to the UK. In typical fashion, she honored both countries with her appearance, continuing a fashion tradition started by Queen Elizabeth II.
The burgundy outfit
At the event honoring the Emir of Qatar, Middleton honored the country by choosing a burgundy ensemble that reflected the Qatari flag. She paired it with an Alexander McQueen tailored coat-dress with an oversized lapel and buttons.

She complemented the stunning trench coat with a range of accessories in the same hue, including a pair of $188 Cornelia James leather gloves, knee-high boots from Gianvito Rossi and a beret from Sahar Millinery with a subtle bow at the top. Additionally, she was carrying a burgundy quilted Chanel leather bag.
Kate’s jewelry
While her ensemble honored the colors of Qatar, her jewelry paid great homage to her British heritage. She wore the Four Row Japanese Pearl Choker, a necklace that belonged to her husband’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and paired it with pearl drop earrings.

According to Court Jeweller, the pearls were a gift from the Japanese government to the late Queen, who gave them to Garrard to create the necklace. The monarch acquired the pearls during a state visit to Japan in the 1970s.
Since then, the necklace has been passed down through the generations, with William’s mother, Princess Diana, wearing it in the 90s. More than three decades later, Middleton continues the tradition, once again proving the timeless nature of royal style.
