The marble sculpture ‘Antikythera Mechanism’, a gift of THEON International Plc (THEON) to the Indonesian people, is now on permanent display at the Indonesian Parliament Exhibition Hall in Jakarta, as part of the celebrations for the anniversary of ’75 years of Friendship and Diplomatic Relations between Greece – Indonesia”.

The sculpture in question was created by the acclaimed Greek sculptor Giorgos Kontonikolaus, commissioned by THEON, as an emblem of Greek engineering and art, to be exchanged with the impressive Balinese olive trunk sculpture “Rama-Sintha” by the artists Made Nyoman Sumantra and I Made Nyoman Suparta.

The delivery of the sculpture to the Parliament of Indonesia took place a few days ago, in the middle of an event on Greek-Indonesian relations.

The event was attended by the Indonesian ambassador to Greece, Dr. Bebeb AK Nugraha Djundjunan, the ambassador of Greece in Indonesia, Stella Bezirtzoglou, the vice-president of the inter-parliamentary cooperation committee, Mr. Bramantyo Suwondo M, M.IR, the Secretary General of the House of Representatives Dr. Indra Iskandar and Ynnoar Wauran Business Development Manager of THEON in Indonesia.

The sculpture “Antikythera Mechanism” was exhibited last October at the anniversary art exhibition organized by the Indonesian embassy in Athens, in collaboration with THEON, the School of Fine Arts and the Indonesian Institute of Arts (IIA) Denspasar Bali.

At the opening of the exhibition, Christian Hatziminas, president of THEON, said: “As we look to the future, it is clear that the ties between Greece and Indonesia will continue to deepen, both through cultural interaction and technological cooperation. THEON, with its strategic approach, prepares the ground for a new era of creative and progressive relationships, where tradition, art and innovation will form the foundations of an even stronger and more stable alliance”.
