A fierce fight broke out at the Christmas concert of the “Queen of Christmas”, Mariah Careyin St. Louis, Missouri. Women tugged at each other to the sounds of… “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” Punches were also thrown…

In videos circulating on social media, a dark-skinned woman can be seen pushing another in the front row, causing her to trip. The blonde woman then spills her drink on the other, who hits her back.

“Where’s the security?”a person is heard shouting in the background. The artist is on a Christmas tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her 1994 album ‘Merry Christmas’, with ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ as her Christmas signature.

“All I Want for Christmas is You”released 30 years ago, has entered the pantheon of Christmas fun alongside ‘Blue Christmas’, ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’ and ‘It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year’.

The song was a relatively modest hit when it was first released in 1994, reaching number 12 on the Billboard All-Genre Radio Songs chart in the United States and number two in the UK (blocked by East 17’s Stay Another Day) and in Japan. That should have been the end of the story. But the track kept coming back stronger and more popular every holiday season.

The song has now topped the charts in more than 25 countries, including the US and the UK, and was officially crowned 2023 by Billboard as the best holiday song of all time based on commercial performance. The success and enduring power of ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ is staggering. And then the following question arises: How did this particular song become as synonymous with Christmas as Santa Claus himself? Since then, Carey has continued to find new and innovative ways to keep “All I Want for Christmas is You” in people’s hearts and minds.
