An extraordinary exhibition presenting the unpublished drawings of the famous Greek artist, Yannis Karousos, is to be opened in the cafe of the National Archaeological Museum.

As the museum’s announcement informs, the Karousos Archive presents the work of Yannis Karousos in the Cafe of the National Archaeological Museum from December 15 to January 5, 2025, offering an immersive experience for the visitor through augmented reality.

The exhibition offers the visitor interactive contact with the creations of the painter who brought renaissance to the Orthodox monumental art of the 20th century. Known for his monumental frescoes, which adorn the interior of the two largest churches in Greece, Karousos’ work is characterized by his innovative compositions and avant-garde painting.

According to the same reunification, the exhibition presents the designs of the artist’s most important mural ensembles, providing the unique opportunity for the visitor to experience an immersive experience as, through augmented reality, the murals come to life and inspire awe. This innovative approach allows for a deeper understanding of Karousos’ artistic legacy and its lasting impact on contemporary Orthodox monumental art.
