Recently separated from Franciele Almeida, who he met on BBB 14, Diego Grossi opened up to his followers this Thursday (12). He revealed that he was addicted to gambling. The compulsion, he says, began after he was hired to advertise a “bet” on Instagram.
“It was something I hid for some time. It was about a year ago that I started playing. In fact, I started advertising for betting shops. I didn’t play, but suddenly I did, I had a big win, I continued playing and then I never won again”, said the ex-BBB.
In the video, he drew attention to the alarming data in Brazil regarding gambling addiction.
“It’s a public calamity, 80 million Brazilians lost money to this addiction”, he warned. “If you’re just starting out, be careful. If you’re already advanced, owing your family, owing a loan shark, stop because it’s going to be bad. I’ve touched that.”
“I made a big profit and then I never made it again. I took money from where I couldn’t get it, always thinking I would get it back. I spent nights, early mornings, borrowing money from a friend. I lost my family, I lost my self-esteem, I lost some friends. My family I didn’t believe in myself anymore. I just wanted to know about the game because [acreditava que] At one point I was going to burst, but it never does”, he reported.
The former couple are parents to Enrico, four years old. In the sequence of videos, Diego says that he is healing through faith and that he wants to try to recover his relationship with Fran.
“I’m in treatment, healing. I lost my family, I lost my home. All of that, the game took away from me. I’m running after the person I love,” he said. “My family abandoned me, my wife broke up with me. Only after all that, I assumed I was addicted. And when we give up an addiction, there’s a hole in our chest. I looked for the church, I looked for Jesus, I made several promises. Little by little I’m healing myself and trying to recover the things I lost”, he concluded.
