Preta Gil undergoes 18-hour surgery

Francisco, son of singer Preta Gil, took to social media to talk about his mother’s health, who underwent an 18-hour surgery to remove nodules.

“Everything is peaceful here! My mother’s surgery is over and everything is fine with her. Thank you for all the positive energy. She is a warrior and went through this one more. We are still strong,” he posted.

Preta’s friend, Malu Barbosa also spoke about the end of the surgery that took place at Hospital Sírio-Libanês, in São Paulo. “Preta’s surgery is over, and she is well and sleeping. She won this one,” he wrote.

Under treatment for cancer, the singer was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday night (18) and asked for prayers before the procedure.

“Here I am, once again, facing a very major surgery, but my faith, my will to live is greater than anything. The feeling now is one of gratitude and a lot of love in my heart”, said Preta.

Two weeks ago, the artist was in New York to talk to a doctor specializing in oncology treatment. That was when the artist, undergoing treatment for the cancer she has been facing since 2023, said she would have another surgery to remove the tumors.

Preta was treated for colorectal cancer last year, but the disease returned in August this year and progressed to metastasis in four locations: in two structures of the lymphatic system, known as lymph nodes; in the peritoneum, the membrane that covers organs such as the intestine, liver and stomach; and in the ureter, the tube through which urine passes.

According to Preta, the surgery, which was postponed and carried out on Thursday (19), would be very important for recovery.
