Tom Holland remembers toxic set of ‘Between Strangers’ and says he almost relapsed into alcohol

Actor Tom Holland, 28, said in an interview with Men’s Health magazine that the environment of the Apple TV+ series “Among Strangers” was toxic. According to him, this created a desire to drink again.

“There was a lot of animosity on that set. It wasn’t a very harmonious place, and there was a lot of arguing and ‘butting’. I thought, ‘if I start drinking again now, with all this going on, it’s going to get worse, right?'” he said. .

“I leaned a lot on people close to me: family, friends, old colleagues, new colleagues, people who came to me and who I didn’t know, but who were also sober”, added Zendaya’s boyfriend. He has been sober for two years.

In 2023, Holland opened up about the period he was addicted to alcohol and how he managed to get rid of the problem. In an episode of Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, the “Spider-Man” star also talked about how he achieved sobriety.

Holland said he realized the problem when he decided to spend the month of January 2022 without drinking alcohol. “I was waking up and thinking about it. I was always checking the clock… And it really scared me.”

“Maybe I have a bit of a problem with alcohol”, was the actor’s reaction when he realized the impact brought by his time sober. “So I decided to punish myself and said, ‘I’m going to do this in February too’.” In this way, Holland continued his journey of sobriety and decided to extend the period to six months.

The series “Entre Estranhos” showed Holland’s versatility on stage. In the plot, he played a young man who was arrested after a shocking crime. He suffered from multiple personality disorder.
