The documentary that will tell and analyze the history of Big Brother in Brazil premieres this Tuesday (9), after “Mania de Você”, on Globo. With interviews with former participants and experts, the production will show how the program influenced, and was influenced, by various social transformations over the years.
Director Bruno Della Latta, creator of the series, says he was surprised after analyzing the interviews and research: “I was surprised by the size of BBB on social media in the first months of the year. There are words and expressions that became known and important social debates that were triggered by the program.”
The production will tell the story of the reality show and analyze why the format was so successful among Brazilians. “When Big Brother arrives in Brazil, it becomes an instant phenomenon. This also happened in other countries, but I believe that here the success was even more relevant, precisely because of the relationship that the country has with TV”, says Della Latta.
According to the director, the idea arose from a conversation about how television shapes Brazilian society, without, however, there being a production about reality. “It has never been analyzed and documented how the reality show the most successful in Brazil, Big Brother, impacts and is impacted by society throughout its 22 years on air”.
The documentary features interviews with illustrious participants, such as Grazi Massafera (BBB5), Sabrina Sato (BBB3), Cida (BBB4), Kleber Bambam (BBB1), Ariadna (BBB11), Juliana Alves (BBB13), Gil do Vigor (BBB21) , Ana Paula (BBB16), Manu Gavassi (BBB20), Solange (BBB4), Jean Wyllys (BBB5), Thelma Assis (BBB20) and Juliette (BBB21).
Presenters Pedro Bial, Thiago Leifert and Tadeu Schmidt, as well as directors Boninho, Rodrigo Dourado and singer Paulo Ricardo, voice of the famous opening song, also appear.
The project is divided into 4 episodes, and each one has its own format and rhythm. Each episode focuses more on one aspect — cultural, social, economic.
