Since 1978, the Onassis Foundation has believed in the big dreams of 7,808 people through the scholarship program. With the support of the Onassis Foundation, which closes its 50th anniversary this year, thousands of young scientists and researchers have managed to overcome the obstacles they faced and revolutionize in their fields. From physics to medicine and from engineering to energy, the Onassis Foundation has invested in the knowledge, innovation and creativity that shape the future. By supporting their work, it not only shapes the lives of the subordinates themselves, but also positively affects society, in general, responding with solutions to global challenges.

In every big dream, in every great idea, there is a small dose of doubt. This doubt comes to reject the Onassis Foundation, believing and supporting the vision of thousands of fellowships who are systematically working for a better society. The protagonists of this year’s campaign are scholars who have overcome themselves. With perseverance and effort, they made the impossible, in a marathon of research and study. Because, after all, every achievement, every discovery is not only a moment “found”, but a collective effort. Charalambos Antoniadis changed the future of thousands of people discovering an innovative method of predicting the infarction. Dimitra Pouli saw beyond the limits of knowledge and discovered a new skin diagnosis technique. Konstantinos Nikolopoulos shed light on the dark and discovered, along with his team, the Higgs particle. Themistocles Sapsis invented an algorithm of prediction of destructive phenomena and protected thousands of people and homes from catastrophic floods. Anna-Maria Kypriou contributed to a more viable world through her research on energy saving.
