Onassis Air announces the new Open Call of the program for the 2025/26 season with the aim of promoting artistic research and process, providing space and time to art professionals from different geography and specialties and enabling them to deepen their practice without the pressure of presenting a final project.

After Five successful years of operation with over 7,000 applications in the Open Call of the programand the support of more than 200 fellows, Onassis Air has evolved into a hub of interdisciplinary thinking and dialogue between artists/ideas and researchers from Greece and abroad. The program cultivates the right conditions for the exchange of ideas, while raising current issues to the forefront and responds to the imperative character of our time, with roots in the local context and looking at the ever -changing global landscape. The Onassis Air, located in the wider Mediterranean region, is close to current geopolitical tensions and recognizes the need to approach these challenges through critical awareness and dialogue.
This year, the Onassis Air program is turning in new directions, further embracing craft and material-based practices. Onassis Air seeks to enrich its artistic community by welcoming creators who work in the fields of fashion, design and applied arts and wish to explore the potential of interdisciplinary cooperation and coexistence in an environment of continuous exploration.
For the 2025/26 season onassis Air expands its operation As a platform for creative experimentation and welcomes a wider community of artists and artists, offering opportunities through four different legs, in collaboration with the Drama, Onassis Onx and Production and Technical Support Departments:
Onassis Air Extended Research Residencies
The Onassis Air Extended Research Residencies is an expanded artistic research and hospitality program that lasts three months. Following the successful start of the program in the 2024/25 season, this year the program is expanding its range to a wider creative community that focuses on applied arts. The program is aimed at artists/ideas, curators, craftsmen, performers, designers/fashion designers, writers, architects, stage designers, filmmakers, sculptors, and other professionals Creation, from anywhere in the world. Utilizing our new facilities, which allow further experimentation with scale, materials and collaborative processes, we welcome creators who are looking for time and space to develop or boost their ongoing projects, offering support and peer- To-peer communication they need to move on to their work. Onassis Air Dramaturgy Fellowships
In the 2024/25 season, the Onassis Air, in collaboration with the Drama Department of the Roof, launched the Dramaturgy Fellowship with the aim of supporting the research and development of new documents. Following the successful course of last year’s fellows of the program, this collaboration is also expanding for the 2025/26 season and invites directors, choreographers, dancers, dramatists, writers or other artists/ideas working in the wider space of theater and dance arts. We invite professionals of the document arts from Greece or based in Greece to submit their proposals for the development of a new theater, dance and /or performance that has not been presented.
Onassis Air/Onx Fellowships
The Onassis Air/Onx Fellowships program returns for a second year in collaboration with Onassis Onx, the worldwide platform of Onassis Culture dedicated to the development of new media art and digital experiences. Onassis Onx enables creators to design digital worlds and high artistic experiences by utilizing cutting -edge technologies while ensuring their financial viability. Specifically for the Onassis Air/Onx Fellowships of the 2025/26 season, we invite suggestions that combine immersive narratives with mixed realities and documents and explore the capabilities offered by computational and web technologies on the development of durable and sustainable practices, taking into account the impacts on the environment . Proposals can include long-term performance, time-based digital projects, motor installations, stage experimentation, original models for stage performances and digital games.
Onassis Air Technical Residencies
Onassis Air launches, this year, a new part that turns its attention to people working in the backdrop of art producers. For the first time, we invite proposals through Open Call from art professionals working in technical support for theatrical, dance, music, cinematic and digital producers. The program is aimed at those who wish to further develop their skills in technical support for sectors such as the stage direction, the theater production, the stage design, the lighting/projections design, the sound and sound design, as well as the technical development and technical development Production of works at the Art and Advanced Technologies. The program is designed for those who already have the basic professional knowledge in their field and wish to improve their technical skills in a dynamic and interdisciplinary creative environment. The people selected will work closely with the specialized Technical Support and Production Teams of the Onassis Foundation and Onassis Onx and will be actively involved in the Onassis Air Fellows projects.

All people who are selected to participate in the program provide artistic fee, the possibility for research/production budget, free accommodation, commute to/to Athens, collective budget for group visits and research trips, opportunities for contact with Athens’ art scene Through networking events and access to mentoring and audiovisual equipment.
All participants in the program will be invited to participate in the Onassis Air Open Days, a series of two -day events that take place three times a year, one per cycle of residencies. They are an opportunity for Onassis Air Fellows from all the legs to get in touch with the city’s public and other art professionals, as well as to share their artistic research or work ongoing. In addition, all Fellows are encouraged to contribute to the ever -expanding Onassis Air community by offering a workshop, an ongoing presentation, a lecture, a promotion, an exchanging event or an activity of any other form of choice your.
The total number of residencies and fellowships to be given for the 2025/26 season is thirty -three (33). Participation in the program is in three cycles: Autumn (September 8, 2025 – 5 December 2025), Spring (2 February 2026 – 30 April 2026), Summer (May 11th 2026 – July 31, 2026).
The work language of the program is English.
The selection process varies according to the selected leg:
• The option for the Onassis Air Extended Research Residencies program follows a peer-to-peer evaluation process, with the participation of previous participants in the program. All applications selected in the first phase will be examined in detail by the Onassis Air team in collaboration with an external selection committee consisting of their Navine G Dossos, Hicham Khalidi and River Lin.
• The option for the Onassis Air Dramaturgy Fellowships will be made by the Drama Department, the Onassis Air and the Housing Team.
• The Onassis Air/Onx Fellowships will be selected by the Odin (Onassis Foundation’s Digital Development and Innovation Program) in collaboration with the Onassis Onass and Onassis Air teams and the Housing Team.
• The option for the Onassis Air Technical Residencies program will be made by the home production department and the Onassis Onass and Onassis Air teams.
