With boos to Claudia Leitte, Salvador Carnival begins with celebration at the 40th anniversary of Axé Music

With rocket, rain and to the sound of Carlos Gomes’s “O Guarani”, singer Carlinhos Brown kicked the opening of Salvador Carnival at the Osmar Circuit in Campo Grande.

Soon, singer Margareth Menezes, Minister of Culture, joined the singer Lazinho and sang the song “Pharaoh”, carnival anthem of Salvador, always accompanied in choir by the public with the greeting “ê, Pharaoh”.

Singing in front of the trio, on the asphalt, at the length of the revelers, in his walking box, Brown and his guests were accompanied by percussionists of Olodum and the beauty of the wings of the Afro blocks and afoxés of the children of Gandhy, Ilê Aiyê, Afro procession, Mazenza Malê, Muzenza and Pelô’s Commanche.

This year, the theme of Carnival is the 40th anniversary of Axé Music and what was seen at the opening was a collection of great hits of the genre.

“I’m thrilled, it’s a joy to be here with you,” said Daniela Mercury, another illustrious guest.

She sang her great success “The Corner of the City”, which won Brazil in 1992. “We took Axé to the world,” said Daniela, talking about the Afro blocks and remembering Neguinho do Samba (1954-2009).

Shortly before running the official opening of Salvador Carnival, singer Carlinhos Brown made a ritual to make ways.
