Bruno Oliveira was 12 years old when he asked his father to take him to the court of Tucuruvi academics in 1993, and fell in love with that universe of colors, fabrics, stones and feathers. The following year, he made the clothes of a friend who was going to participate in the Drum Queen Contest from the X-9 Paulistana School and no longer stopped.
Today, at age 40, he owns a studio in Vila Guilherme, where he produces 200 costumes just for this carnival. It is he who signs the costumes of 13 couples of master-room and flag bearer of the 14 schools of the Special Group of São Paulo, besides the muses, highlights and drum queens. Bruno is also the stylist of some stars of the carioca revelry. One of them is Paolla Oliveira, from Greater Rio. Last year, she created for her the jaguar that was Sapucaí’s big subject at the head of the association rhythmists.
“She came with several ideas, and I had thought of other situations. We talked a lot until the jaguar came. It was a success, right? I’m in love with that fantasy,” says Bruno, who hits the last details of this year’s costume in the plot “POROROCAS PARAWARAS – The waters of my charms in the accounts of the curimbós “(theme that celebrates the culture and nature of the Amazon).
Like again, it keeps a secret about what’s coming. He emphasizes the importance of the surprise factor for the school parade, which takes place on Tuesday (4). “I can’t tell you anything about the fantasy, but it’s amazing. Paolla is a queen who gives herself a lot. She accompanied the whole process and came to Sao Paulo several times to taste her clothes and get stunning. And it was.”
Discreet, Bruno does not elect a favorite costume. He says he doesn’t use black at all, but in costumes he uses all color palettes. The same is true of the materials. “I made a look with rest of dishes. Sousplat leaked with a lacy of gold wires. I like to wear everything because, for me, what can not miss in clothes is personality, is the identity of the person.”
Bruno says his craft work is done in partnership with those who order him. And guarantees that it works moved to passion. “My construction process is a lot of exchange with the customer, and if I don’t fall in love with the costume, I don’t have the courage to mark the test.”
With a team of 45 people, Bruno does not do permits (when the professional wears a famous in exchange for posts on social networks) and also does not reveal how much charges for a fantasy, for example. “It’s a matter of privacy, and the same happens with the looks. No one sees the costumes of the other, no question, because I’m very serious in what I do. I don’t open this precedent.”
Also stylist of haute couture and show costumes, Bruno says he will only take 10 days of vacation after Carnival. Time, by the way, that he finds enough. “I’m a little workaholic and especially in love with what I do. I love it. I don’t see myself doing anything else.”
When asked if he would accept being carnival of a samba school, it was fast. “I’ve had some invitations and preferred to dedicate myself to mine, but who knows in the next carnival, I already sign a plot?
